Let me start with an anecdote…I love anecdotes.
In High School I ran for class historian. They asked me to describe myself in three words. Some words that came to my running-mates’ minds were, Responsible, Hardworking, Motivated. Well…the first thing that came to my mind was, “Minnesotan white boy.” I’m not sure if that’s what they were expecting, but I can tell you that they never forgot who the “Minnesotan white boy” was.
I am a photographer and graphic designer based in southern California. After starting out in 35mm film photography I made the transition in digital media. I am currently getting my BFA in Graphic Design while minoring in Motion Graphics.
Growing up with an interior designer mother and a carpenter father exposed me to the world of design at an early age. Growing up in Brooklyn Park, MN gave me an appreciation for nature and hand-work techniques. But moving to southern CA at 13 gave me an insight to the power to the media in our world. I try to remain conscious of the two as I proceed with my work by using hand-crafted techniques combined with digital technology.
I am also greatly motivated by my diagnoses of a rare cancer called Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma. I try to remain grounded and healthy so that I can continue to do what I love.
